Complete reference for D&D 5E core mechanics, extracted from the System Reference Document (SRD v5.2.1).
Core Mechanics (Most Important)
These mechanics are essential for gameplay:
- Ability Scores - Ability scores, modifiers, and ability checks
- Skills - All 18 skills and skill checks
- Combat - Combat rules, actions, initiative, attack rolls, and damage
- Saving Throws - Saving throw mechanics
- Feats - Feats and character customization options
Additional Mechanics
- Conditions - Status conditions (blinded, charmed, frightened, etc.)
- Equipment - Weapons, armor, gear, and equipment rules
- Adventuring - Resting, travel, time, environment, and exploration
- Character Advancement - Experience points, leveling, and proficiency bonus
Navigation
All mechanics files are now in the Mechanics/ folder root (subfolders removed for easier access).
Organization
Each mechanics section has been extracted from the D&D 5E SRD and formatted for easy reference in Obsidian. These mechanics form the foundation of the game, which we've customized with:
- 4 Magic Systems - Arcane, Infernal, Fae, and Divine (see Magic Index)
- House Rules - Custom modifications (see Rules/House Rules)
- TGAB Adaptations - Campaign-specific modifications

Magic and Classes Excluded
Spellcasting rules and spells are not included in this mechanics extraction, as these will be handled separately with TGAB-specific adaptations. Classes and races are now available in the [[Classes]] and Races Index folders.
