Khar

Domain: Honor (Custom)
Portfolio: Honor, Orcs
Demonym: [None - worship no longer grants power]
Alignment: Lawful Good / Lawful Neutral

Overview

Khar was the god of honor and the patron deity of the Orcs. His official purview in the pantheon was the God of Honor, representing the principles of honor, integrity, and the warrior's code that guided orcish society. Khar's followers valued personal honor, keeping one's word, and fighting with integrity.

The destruction of Athan'Khar during the Enchanter Wars marked the end of Khar's active presence in the world. Whether the Enchanter's Bane directly killed the god or merely severed his connection to the mortal plane so completely that he could no longer respond to prayers, the result was the same: Khar became silent, and his divine power ceased to flow to his followers.

Status

Defeated/Deceased God - Khar is most likely deceased. When the Enchanter's Bane destroyed Athan'Khar, it either slew Khar or traumatized him to such an extent that he has not been heard from since. All prayers to Khar fall on deaf ears, and worship of Khar no longer grants access to divine power.

Philosophy

Khar represented: - Personal honor and integrity - Keeping one's word - Fighting with honor and fairness - The warrior's code - Protection of the weak through honorable means - Justice through honorable action

Relationship to Other Deities

Khar would have maintained relationships with other lawful deities, particularly those concerned with justice and order. He would have been opposed to chaotic deities and those who would act dishonorably.

Historical Context

The Enchanter Wars

The Enchanter Wars were a period of conflict that saw the rise of powerful arcane weapons and artifacts. During this time, a catastrophic event known as the Enchanter's Bane destroyed Athan'Khar, the orcish homeland. This destruction was so complete and so devastating that it severed the connection between Khar and the mortal world.

The Fall of Khar

When Athan'Khar was destroyed, Khar either: - Was directly slain by the Enchanter's Bane - Was so traumatized by the destruction of his people's homeland that he withdrew completely from the mortal plane - Had his connection to the mortal world severed in such a way that he could no longer respond to prayers or grant divine power

Regardless of the exact mechanism, the result was clear: Khar fell silent, and all attempts to contact him or receive his divine power have failed since that day.

Legacy

Orcish Culture

Even though Khar no longer answers prayers, many orcs still honor his memory and attempt to follow the principles he once represented. The concepts of honor, integrity, and the warrior's code remain important in orcish culture, even without active divine guidance.

Religious Organizations

Any religious organizations that once served Khar have either: - Disbanded due to the loss of divine power - Continued as cultural organizations that honor Khar's memory without receiving divine benefits - Converted to other faiths that can still provide divine power
